Beautiful, plump lips are the epitome of sensuality and attractiveness. Every year, many women choose to optimise the appearance of their lips for this very reason. Russian lips, also known as doll lips, are a particularly popular choice. This minimally invasive technique uses small quantities of hyaluronan fillers to accentuate the contours of your lips. It gives the lips a slightly heart-like shape and a more puckered appearance, achieving more natural-looking results than conventional lip fillers. Here at the prevention-center in Zug, Dr Köhler performs the Russian lips technique with great success. Not only does this treatment allow us to optimise lip contours, it also produces natural-looking results. At the same time, it smooths out small vertical lines and evens out irregularities between the upper and lower lips, leaving the face looking more harmonious and attractive as a whole.

FAQs about Russian lips
Who could benefit from Russian lips?
The Russian lips technique is suitable for anyone looking for fuller, gently curved lips that still look absolutely natural and show no sign of the treatment. This method is particularly suitable for people who have not had lip fillers before. However, women and men who have had lip augmentation treatments in the past can also benefit from this new technique – provided that there are no residues of past fillers in their lips.
How do Russian lips differ from conventional lip filler treatments?
The Russian lips technique is an optimisation of the conventional lip filler method. It allows us to create plump, gently curved lips that still appear very natural. While the conventional method primarily focuses on adding volume to the lips, the Russian lips technique concentrates on perfecting the contours of your lips. Vertical injections of minute quantities of hyaluronan makes the centre of the upper lip appear slightly higher, which gives the lips a heart-like shape and thus also leaves them looking plumper.
What are the benefits of a Russian lips treatment in Zug?
As a Russian lips treatment only makes minor changes to the volume of a patient’s lips, it leaves their facial profile largely unchanged. This means that the lips still appear flat – even in side profile – rather than protruding outwards out like a rubber dinghy. The treatment can balance out any differences in the volume of the upper or lower lips. The vertical injection technique has a further advantage: it can also smooth out vertical lines and wrinkles around the upper lip.
Is it possible to have Russian lips after having conventional lip fillers?
Theoretically, yes. However, all remnants of past fillers must have been broken down by the body before a Russian lips treatment. You should leave at least two weeks between the last fillers dissolving and a Russian lips treatment.
How many treatment sessions will I need for Russian lips?
That depends on your initial condition and your desired results. In most cases, a single session is sufficient; however, people with very narrow lips might benefit from a refresher treatment after a few weeks.
What does a Russian lips treatment involve?
Following a detailed personal consultation, Dr Köhler will perform the Russian lips treatment on an outpatient basis at the prevention-center in Zug. The first injection is made in the base of the lips, from where the filler (hyaluronic acid) spreads out to the edge of the lips. This means that, unlike conventional lip augmentation, this technique follows an inside-out approach.
The treatment takes around 20 to 30 minutes and does not involve a prolonged stay. You will be able to leave our clinic immediately after the treatment and go about your daily routine as usual.
What should I bear in mind before and after a Russian lips treatment in Zug?
If you have already had a lip augmentation or lip filler treatment, you should make sure that past fillers have dissolved completely before your next (Russian lips) treatment. The treated areas may be slightly swollen and red immediately after the injections, so you should cool them thoroughly. Take it easy on the day of the treatment and the following day; avoid direct sunlight and physical exertion, such as exercise.
Is a Russian lips treatment painful?
A Russian lips treatment is an almost painless procedure. We use very fine needles, so you will hardly feel the injections. If you wish, we can apply a numbing cream to the relevant areas before the treatment. However, most hyaluronan fillers also contain a small dose of anaesthetic, so there is no reason to be worried about the injections.
How long does the Russian lips effect last?
Hyaluronic acid is a natural material that is broken down over time by the human body. As a result, the effect of hyaluronan fillers also reduces over time and the Russian lips effect fades. The rate at which our bodies break down hyaluronic acid varies from person to person, so how long the Russian lips effect will last also varies. In our experience, the Russian lips effect persists for around 6 to 8 months for most patients. In order to create lasting, aesthetically pleasing results, we recommend that patients have regular refresher treatments every year at our clinic in Zug.
What are the risks associated with Russian lips?
The Russian lips technique requires experience and finesse – in terms of both the dosage and administering the injections. At the prevention-center in Zug, we possess both of these qualities, which enables us to use this treatment method to achieve excellent results. The Russian lips method is a very low-risk procedure. When performed by a specialist, there is no reason to expect any side effects. In some cases, patients experience slight swelling and redness in the treated areas. Cooling the skin is an effective remedy, though such symptoms also recede on their own soon after.
How much does Russian lips treatment cost?
The costs depend on the treatment scope and the type and quantity of filler used. We would be happy to provide a tailored quotation for your treatment at the prevention-center in Zug.
