Dr Köhler has been a practitioner of PRP therapy for more than 12 years. This form of treatment originated from the use of the system in cardiac surgery, where fibrin sealant and PRP separation was used to promote wound healing. Treating clients with autologous, platelet-rich plasma (PRP) proved an innovative, pioneering approach, which has led to autohaemotherapy becoming increasingly popular. The treatment uses autologous growth factors to activate the body’s in-built regenerative and healing functions. Numerous innovations have appeared over time and, here at the prevention-center, we have reviewed these advances over the last decade and implemented them. As a result, we can now offer our clients state-of-the-art PRP therapy for regenerative, revitalising and wound-healing treatments.

Benefits of PRP therapy at the prevention-center in Zug

  • More than 9 years’ experience with PRP therapy
  • We use the most innovative PRP system on the market
  • Just two sessions per year are usually sufficient, depending on indications
  • Natural results for a fresh, toned complexion
  • Autologous materials mean people with allergies tolerate the treatment well

Platelet-rich plasma (PRP), which we obtain from our clients’ blood, has different modes of action that have a positive influence on a person’s complexion. The treatment harnesses the body’s natural healing processes and copies them. When the body is injured, platelets and other components move to the affected area, first and foremost to control the bleeding. Further processes then ensure that the tissue is repaired. The regenerative and healing power of plasma is also harnessed in aesthetic medicine in the form of PRP therapy, which is used to revitalise the skin cells. Elevated collagen production strengthens connective tissues, promotes circulation and regenerates blood vessels while calming inflammatory processes in the skin.

In order to provide our customers with sufficient information, a detailed consultation is always made before the intervention. After a thorough investigation, the customer's data and wishes are carefully evaluated and a suitable therapy for the individual case is selected.

If the customer wants a completely painless treatment, the procedure can also be carried out under sedation.

First, blood must be taken from the arm vein. Then, by means of a special centrifuge, plasma rich in blood platelets is obtained and appropriately processed. After about 20 minutes, the treatment can be continued and the biological filling material is injected into the selected area of the body. After only a few days, the first positive effects can be seen. There might be some minor swelling or bruising, but these usually disappear very quickly. The growth factors in the plasma start to renew skin cells after about one month and the skin is gradually rejuvenated and smoothed. To achieve a perfect result, three treatments performed in our practice are recommended.

PRP is a very gentle and low-risk procedure. As it is a non-surgical procedure, and uses the body's own organic material, complications and allergic reactions can be almost entirely excluded. Nevertheless, this surgery is not free from possible side effects. In rare cases, reddening and localised swelling may occur, which usually disappears after a few days.

The PRP method (Platelet Rich Plasma) is a gentle and innovative therapy for skin rejuvenation using one's own blood and has been successfully used in the Prevention Centre for some time. In contrast to wrinkle treatments with other types of filler, it is a long-term solution to a rejuvenated appearance. The PRP method has been used in medicine since the mid-1990s to achieve faster healing in injuries. This method has proven particularly successful in sports injuries and arthritic diseases. The PRP method was consequently introduced to the world of aesthetic medicine and developed into a popular and safe therapy for non-surgical skin rejuvenation, regardless of the area (face, neck, décolletage, hands, etc.).

Although the duration of this nonoperative surgery may vary from client to client, PRP has a longer-term rejuvenation effect than other fillers, thanks to the growth factors of the blood plasma. In addition, allergic reactions can be excluded, as the treatment involves the body's own material.

The cost of a PRP treatment in our practice amounts to 500 CHF per session.

In our clinic, we use state-of-the art technologies to collect autologous platelets in a 20-minute procedure. A decisive factor in the success of PRP therapy is processing the collected material properly and thus preserving the concentration and vitality of the growth factors. The systems we use to obtain PRP are extremely rare and, due to their complexity, can only be used by professional medical institutions. We now use technologically optimised successor models in our clinic, allowing us to obtain the greatest possible concentrations of growth factors and achieve the best possible results. Newer separation systems have recently made it faster and easier to separate growth factors while maintaining the same high quality.

Dr Köhler strives to meet his clients’ high expectations with excellent results. To achieve this aim, he works closely together with leading international experts from the outset. He has proven expertise in the use of the high-quality materials and applies them routinely in his treatments. This includes solid basic training followed by extensive experience in performing PRP treatments day-in, day-out, over many years.

FAQs about PRP therapy

PRP therapy is a facial treatment using autologous material that harnesses the body’s natural regeneration and healing processes. We take a small amount of blood from the client prior to the treatment and carefully prepare it to obtain the platelet-rich plasma (PRP). This plasma is replete with growth factors that are then injected under the skin, where they can take effect.

Autohaemotherapy is primarily used to revitalise and visually rejuvenate a person’s complexion. It supplies the skin with growth factors and restores it from within. PRP therapy usually leaves the client’s skin looking fresher, younger and firmer.

An initial impact will be visible immediately, with the treatment leaving the client’s skin looking refreshed and radiant. Generally speaking, their body’s in-built regenerative function is stimulated over the following three months as the full effects take shape.

Exactly how long the results last varies from person to person depending on their individual physical processes. However, PRP therapy generally delivers lasting results because the injection initiates growth and regeneration processes.

PRP therapy does not require any lengthy recovery times, which makes the process particularly straightforward. Normally, our clients are able to return to their everyday lives around 1 or 2 days after the treatment.

Here at the prevention-center, we have a series of particularly innovative technologies at our disposal for PRP therapy. As we work with the highest possible concentrations of autologous blood, two sessions per year are usually enough to achieve a markedly improved complexion.

As autohaemotherapy is a straightforward procedure, there are no special aspects clients need to consider before the procedure. People with anaemia should refrain from PRP therapy. It is also advisable to stop taking medication prior to the treatment. We would be happy to discuss all relevant aspects with you in a consultation session at our clinic.

It can often be beneficial to cool the face somewhat after PRP therapy. You should also apply a moisturising cream to the treated skin. On the day of the treatment, it is important to avoid exposure to direct sunlight, visiting the sauna and exercise. You should also avoid any thermal laser treatments in the week following PRP therapy.

PRP therapy is a particularly low-risk treatment method; due to the use of autologous materials, our clients usually tolerate the procedure very well. You may experience slight swelling, redness or bruising for a short time around the puncture sites, though these symptoms will recede on their own after a few days at most.
